The upper, tall cabinets with divided lite doors were styled after the original cabinets, (c. 1880).
The kitchens, in up scale homes were originally meant for the "help".
The secondary woodworking was, 'functional with style.

The interiors behind the glass door cabinets are painted black which adds a dramatic effect. Not seen, (by the range) are 2 very oversized drawers to hold pots and pans. The kitchen has butcher block counters and period pewter hardware.
