Federal painted chair
The original versions of this antique reproduction chair are now housed in the Winterthur Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. They were made for the Elias Hasket Derby house in Salem, Massachusetts about 1820. A client saw a photograph of these chairs and ordered 20 for their dining room. The colors in the painted plume were changed slightly to accommodate the contemporary client's wishes. The upholstery is also a contemporary design, and is not to period style.
