Child's Bed

I built this twin bed for my 5 year old son. It is a "collaboration" between the two of us - he wanted lots of color whereas my desire, whenever possible, is to highlight the natural pigmentation and grain of wood. He wanted it to be up high so he could play or read books underneath it. I added pie-shaped shelves here and there for storing little treasures. It's a simple knock-down piece made of solid natural birch and birch veneer ply with rounded solid edges. The colored sections were sprayed with latex paint and clear satin polyurethane. The natural wood is finished with wipe-on satin polyurethane.
