Natural Cherry Sofa Frame

This sofa is indicative of my design aesthetic: simple, solid, and functional. It was commissioned by a couple who were very specific about what they wanted but could not find it as a production piece. We arrived at the final design through a very interactive design process including a full-scale mock-up made out of poplar. Construction is solid cherry; the joinery is mortise and tenon throughout; and the finish is multiple coats of tung oil and wax. Dimensions are 90" x 38" x 30" high. To complete the set there is a matching chair and ottoman.

I am a one person design/woodworking operation specializing in custom furniture and woodwork for residential and commercial clients. I work from my own designs or from those of my clients including designers, architects, and individuals. My priority is applying the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail to the best materials and finishes resulting in beautiful, functional creations.
