Solid oak round table
The 6 foot diameter solid oak round table with accompanying ball-bearing lazy susan has a solid oak turned pedestal 17 inches in diameter, and a pyramidal base weighing 80 pounds. The table, with 3 inch apron, is attached to the pedestal by means of a solid 2 inch thick block tenoned onto the pedestal top, and having two 2 inch thick and 48 inch long tapered bearers that are in turn slot-screwed to allow for seasonal movement, to the underside of the top. The pedestal base, turned ball, and table block are fastened together with a 5/8 all-thread using bearing washers and hex nuts top and bottom. The table is stained and sealed with shellac, and then lacquered with 8 coats of semi-gloss acrylic lacquer, rubbed out and waxed with restoration quality English brown antique wax, and then hand buffed.
We build custom furniture and period reproductions, both French and English. Carving, veneering, and french polishing are done to the highest standards, using the best materials, (no contact cement or paper-back veneers are used, ever).
