Red and Lichen colors of the inset are contrasted by the neutral smoke colored palette on the body of this piece. Cherry wood draws the eye upward with graceful lines. Cherry is permanently attached. The clay form is hand built construction with an incised texture on inset. Layered glazes enhance the inset with beautiful intense color. The piece is fired a third time in a kiln fueled by sawdust (Pit Firing) to add the smoked surfaces surrounding the inset. This is a decorative ,sculptural vessel and does not hold water.
