George Washington Rocking Chairproduced for a CustomMade customer

About this item

Approximately $20,000

George Washington's Mount Vernon Plantation is where the walnut this rocking chair was made from grew for well over 200 years. The tree had to be removed in order to facilitate the rebuilding of George's distillery.

I acquired the wood through a friend who processes historical wood in the Washington DC area.

This tree was a small sapling when George passed from this earth. I have made two of these rocking chairs, the other rocker resides in a beautiful home in North Carolina.

When this chair is sold it will, in all probability be the last. An opportunity to own a beautiful, exquisitely comfortable rocking chair that is also a very unique part of American History is rare indeed and when this chair is gone -
