Georgian Foot Stool
CustomMade by Reid Anderson
This Georgian footstool was a project to see if I could create traditional feet from the Queen Anne and Chippendale periods.
There are 4 unique feet on this stool, a Slipper foot, a Pad foot, a Tri-fid foot, and the Ball and Claw foot. Each of these feet were hand carved and sculpted out of
… Honduras Mahogany. The molding around the stool also changes to represent the value of the feet. The more complex the foot the more difficult the molding. This also explains the New England Shell carved between the Tri-Fid foot and the Ball and Claw foot.
The entire piece is finished with oil, then sealed with shellac, then buffed with a wax to give it its glow. The upholstered slip seat is finished with a red silk damask.
