Gold Chess Set (No.1 Of 12) Circa 1972
14 k gold Chess set , no 1 of 12, created for the Cole family in 1972. Fourteenth century themed with a cross section of western European costuming and appropriate armaments and embellishments. Playing surface is Gaboon ebony and sterling silver. Case work is Cherry wood on a cast iron and yellow bronze detailed framework, glass is hand rolled plate imported from Germany. Net gold weight 11.5 lb.
This is set 1 of a series of 12 ending in 2008.
Currently in the collection of the Gemological institute of America.
