There are many types of Garnets, many types of beads that support vitality. The red garnets are known through centuries and across many cultures to increase strength and security in combination with growing active emotional, physical and spiritual health. The garnet in this piece is intimately connected to a time when people were more in tune with our Earth, when life was more physically demanding - demanding humans to work with our hands and demanding humans to respect from our heart and spirit, humankind learned to find help to provide and strengthen energies that gave the gift of solid support and joyous energy. In that earlier time and arguably more important in our era of hurried meetings, multi-tasking of multi-tasks and keeping track of home, helping our children grow to become good people,plus the universe of work that both brings us necessary funds but also, with great luck, work from our hearts. Oh yes, and so often neglected, play - time to relax, let down, re-fuel our creativity and endurance.
This necklace is a call to vitality and joy. Made in the spirit that African Shawmen as well as Australian Aboriginals work their adornments with purpose, this Garnet necklace is one answer to the ever increasing overwhelm.
The Fifteen (15) large, A+ quality, 2 cm diameter, round, deepest red Almandine Garnets are punctuated by a selected variety of gold on sterling silver (vermeil) beads. The necklace measures 20" long. The gold beads are hollow, both due to the size of the Garnets and to avoid the huge cost of solid gold beads this size. If you would rather have gold beads, this can be done, let us know. We can also work in copper, brass and silver or any other metal. The hollow beads make what could be a very heavy necklace weigh 8 oz.
Each 3/4" diameter Garnet is also dressed in gold vermeil floral open weave caps.
The center stone of the piece introduces larger bead caps with a shining crystal circlet heishi along with Angel Aura and Tsavorite Garnet (kelly green garnet) 4mm heshi beads.
The box clasp finishes this beautiful piece. A vintage clasp, it is square vermeil, decorated in a raised filigree style and sports a saftey catch.
I have made other similar jewelry pieces using large pearls (usually swarovski pearls for their size/cost), with a beautiful dark wood bead and in a number of other gemstones. I also can create a set including any/all of the following: bracelets, earrings, pin brooch, and hair clip. This style is also lovely in copper. I haven't done the piece in either silver or brass, however with the right gemstone, that might be a great look. I can also see a similar piece Jade, turquoise (allow an extra 2 weeks), The similarities between the pictured piece and other pieces are the size of the gemstone or organic (e.g.: wood, amber) "lead beads." The materials used will affect the price and the time that it would take to complete the piece.
