Even for us, this is an extra heavy extra thick piece of furniture. Back in 2005 we cut a few sassafras timbers extra thick just to see how they did. Even after five years and a couple of months in the kiln, these really didn't get down to the moisture content we require for furniture. So we kept the joinery to a minimum, and surprisingly, very little movement.
