This unique hand-forged railing by Matthew & Karine Maynard was designed by the artists for a staircase so wide, it needed a handrail on each side of the stairs. For this work, Matthew has received highest accolades from the Kentucky Arts Council, for excellence and creativity in their work.
With perfectly formed metal twists that appear to look like rope and metal turned and beaten into genuine looking leather, this railing astounds the viewer and fills the senses, while maintaining it's function in this luxury home.
Dimensions
The tread width for this staircase was greater than 5' & therefore required a handgrip on both sides. To find a creative solution, the wall-mounted portion of this railing was approached as an individual railing in itself.
