David and I had some misunderstandings about the details of the project, but I chalk those up to miscommunication (though he should have checked with me regarding details as basic as the size of the object-- I sent him many examples of similar things that were all tiny relative to what he made, and told him how I planned to use it, neither of which he took into account when making it ridiculously large for its intended purpose). All that aside, the simple fact of the matter is, he did not do a professional job. The coloring that he used for the object is badly smuged, not within the carved lines, and looks careless. Anyone who saw this object and was told how much I paid would say, "You paid HOW much for that?" It is a shame, because he is a talented designer and has made lots of gorgeous furniture-- which, again, suggests to me that he did not do the job very attentively, even though he seems like a genuinely nice and communicative guy.
