This was the second in a series of highly decorated fireplace surrounds and screens that I made for a client. For the bordeer of this surround I relied heavily on French Gothic work for inspiration for the leaf work and the repousse imps in the corners and the apex of the arch.The clients' … penchant for detail allowed me the opportunity to explore this mulyilayereddesign ith built up mouldings and dentil work. As in the other fire screens in this series using a single panel door for the screen leaves an unobstructed view of the fire , alleviates the need for a place to set the screen aside and yet allows full access while tending the fire.
