This chest is a reproduction of a Boston Bombe Chest with serpentine drawer fronts superimposed on the bombe form. The chest is solid mahogany with secondary parts made of poplar and hard maple and dust covers made of aromatic cedar panels. The chest is built from a solid plank of mahogany 23" … wide, 3" thick, and 11' long. The drawer sides and fronts are constructed with compound mitered hand cut dovetails and the drawer sides are sculpted to match the profile of the bombe case sides. A quartet of hand carved ball and claw feet support the chest. The cock-beading around the drawers was not applied, but was achieved by relieving the case sides and rails. Each drawer has a brass lock with matching bent escutcheon and two brass bent drawer pulls. This piece won second place at the 2007 AWFS fair's judged student design competition in the post secondary reproduction division.
