Certified Reclaimed Angelique wood from Coney Island Boardwalk. This wood likely saw the Great Depression, World War II, and the Civil unrest of the 60s. It saw families looking to escape the realities of the hard life of the Great Depression for some fun on the beach and some cheap entertainment. It saw Soldiers returning from the war, bringing their sweethearts to celebrate life, countless hotdogs and ice cream, carnival attractions, amusements and rides. It saw young kids stealing a first kiss under the boardwalk and so much more! Back to the tie to dance. In researching Coney Island's history, there were dance performances on the Boardwalk and while maybe not part of the boardwalk, I found the very first attraction for Coney Island was a large, tent covered, circular dance floor called The Pavilion built in 1845...

Next was how to bring a bit of current history into it. I borrowed designs from the Evergreen Ballroom (where this instructor teaches). I also captured a great catch phrase taught by her! Each were hand engraved to become a permanent part of this historical piece honoring the past memories of Coney Island and past, current, and future memories of Ballroom Dance. A truly timeless piece.
