The contemporary coffee or side table is 30" Long x 32" Wide x 18" High and made from beautiful Ambrosia and Soft Maple. The top and sides are made from 4/4 Ambrosia Maple and the legs are made from 8/4 Soft Maple. The piece was left natural and multiple layers of clear satin lacquer were applied to bring out the grain patterns and structure produced in the wood by the Ambrosia Beetle.
The legs slide into a tight fitting rectangular cavity and are then secured with two 1/4 Inch lag bolts. This design produces a very strong and rigid connection of the legs to the table top.
The Ambrosia beetle causes the wormy pattern in Soft Maple lumber and the result is very unique looking lumber. The wood has beautiful blue, brown and gray stripes with small worm holes. This lovely wormy pattern will not effect the table strength and functionality in any negative way. Ambrosia Maple has many uses including furniture, guitars and veneers.
