Matthew & Karine Maynard designed this railing with the homeowner in Nashville, TN and created it in their blacksmith's shop in Central Kentucky. Uniquely designed and because every component was handmade, there is no need for a newel post at the top of the stairs, but what derived was a free flowing design that continues around the corner and elegantly continues into the balcony. This award winning work by Maynard Studios is proud to also host imaginative newel posts at the base of the staircase, that are unlike any other seen made or designed by contemporary blacksmiths today.
Dimensions
At over 160' in length, the newel posts of this floating curved staircase were designed to be a solid trunk from which the rest of the metalwork could emerge. Surrounding elements within the home were echoed in details of copper, brass, stone and wood.
