It was a pleasure working with John. He was timely, responsive and helpful through out the entire building process. I look forward to working with him again on another project.

Long story short: great desk at a great price from a great maker. I commissioned a small cherry desk to match my existing furniture. Of the 7 bids I received to make the desk, Robinson's Custom Woodworking offered me the lowest price, so I described exactly what I wanted and sent pictures of the furniture I already have. John Robinson sent me back a concept drawing that looked exactly like what I'd been picturing in my head, so I hired him to make the desk. From the point at which he began building until it was ready to be picked up, I received what seemed like near-daily communication about his progress, with pictures attached so I could see how it was going. When John couldn't find the perfect drawer pulls for me for sale anywhere, he designed and crafted his own. The finished product is lovely. The filing drawers slide smoothly even now that they're chuck-full, on rollers more sophisticated and robust than any I've seen on other file drawers. And the finish matches the furniture I already have — not perfectly, he's not superhuman! — but closely enough that you can't tell they're different if the pieces are more than 2 or 3 feet apart. The one and only trouble I had during the whole experience was that when I got it home, the dimensions of the finished desk differed from my original specifications by 1 inch, which left a slight gap between the desk and the wall. When I notified John of the discrepancy, he immediately offered to craft and mail me (for free) a filler strip to insert into the gap. (I'm sure he would have offered to have me bring the desk back to the woodshop for him to fix outright, except that I live 4 hours away from his shop and I wouldn't have made the drive again over a matter of 1 inch!) the strip works great and looks like the desk was designed that way, so I am now completely satisfied. All in all, a fantastic experience with CustomMade and Robinson's Custom Woodworking.
