Old Growth Juniper Floor Lamp

This very unique and rare piece of juniper comes from a bluff of the Big Piney River in the Missouri Ozarks. Junipers growing in such rough environments grow knarly and twisted due to the dry poor soil, rock falls and windy conditions. They also grow very slowly and take hundreds of years to reach this size. Count on the growth rings from a slice taken beneath the lamp base revealed 165 years of growth. Since this represents growth higher up in the tree, it can be estimated to be 300+ year old. This tree was probably already over a hundred years old when Daniel Boone first settled the area.

The lamp stands almost 7' tall with the natural rawhide shade. The base is made from Grand Canyon flagstone and the weight makes it an extremely stable base. The lamp also features a glass shelf resting on a branch, which is removable for easy cleaning.
