Old Parkland Mantel
I was commissioned to design, build and install this mantel in the conference room at "Old Parkland" campus in the heart of Dallas, TX. The mantel is made of American black walnut hardwood and features many fine design details such as: turned columns with hand carved gilded capitals, and hand carved panels in both rococo and arabesque styles. Other features include Italian marble hearth and 2 hidden compartments. The scale of this mantel is quite large. The mantel is 18 ft. high from floor to ceiling, 13 ft wide. The shelf is 7 ft. above the hearth and the firebox is 5ft. square. The aesthetic of this mantel complements the 19th century architecture of the buildings of this campus.
