The stand is solid cherry, and the carvings are of the sea with the Christian fish … symbol within the waves. It is used during Church services on Holy days such as Easter and other special occasions. *** I have a particular affinity for this type of work, and I enjoy doing the research and working with pastors and congregations to design the perfect religious furniture for their individual Sanctuaries. If possible I visit the Church where the piece will reside (or, if distance is prohibitive, I review photographs of the sanctuary and other nearby pieces of religious furnishings, such as the alter, lecterns, and baptismal font), and then I provide a selection of computer drawn 3-dimensional renderings of what the piece might look like so we can all visualize it in the environment.
