Ceramic vessel with black walnut branches accenting the form. The clay form is hand built construction with an incised texture on inset. Inset is reminiscent of rain drops on water. Layered glazes enhance the inset with beautiful intense color. The piece is fired a third time in a kiln fueled by sawdust (Pit Firing) to add the smoked surfaces surrounding the inset. The piece is designed around the unusual branches. After the branches have had the bark removed, they are sanded, stained and lacquered. They are permanently adhered to the ceramic vessel after it is fired. This is a decorative ,sculptural vessel and does not hold water.
