This brooch features a stunning piece of dichroic glass. The back of the glass is black, but the front is so saturated with color that you have to turn the glass over to see the black.
The predominant colors reflected by this cabochon are in the orange, red and gold range. However, there are very distinct stripes wtih green, yello, gold, and even a violet shade deep within the glass.
The seting is 14k gold filled wire arranged at two corners of the square cabochon. The curls in the wire give the piece a rococo look.
The pin is a standard 3/4 inch pin back both glued and wired to the back of the cabochon. The pin is attached so that the brooch pins on at approximately the angle shown in the photograph above.
While this piece is intended as a brooch, there is a loop of the wire on the back at the end with the longest curls of wire. That loop allows this piece to double as a pendant (put an ear nut on the end of the pin if you intend to wear it this way). Approximately 3/4 inch of wire curls is above the loop a chain would go through if worn as a pendant.
Dimensions
The length of the brooch is 3 inches. It is 1 1/4 inch wide.
