Each original design begins with the center stone, and an idea of the style of the one who is to wear the finished piece. In this case the stone was a round blue sapphire accented by two small diamonds, and the customer was a young woman with a very contemporary sense of style.
Usually, we … produce a pencil drawing or a pen and ink sketch, showing the ring to scale from two angles.
If the ring is to be cast, we carve a wax model, and then cast it in gold, using the "lost wax" process. Any
necessary alterations may be made in the wax before casting in metal.
Finally, we hand finish the casting on all surfaces, inside and out, and set the stones in place.
