A four-drawer black cherry chest to be used as a bedside table. A bread-boarded shelf just below the tabletop pulls out to provide additional space for a cup of tea and a book. Sides and back are flat-paneled. Mortise and tenon joints are square-pegged for durability and visual interest. Drawers are constructed with handcut half-blind dovetails and are graduated from the top down: 4", 5", 6", and 7". Poplar drawer sides with bookmatched butternut drawer bottoms. Hand-turned drawer pulls.
