These Wall Altars / Wall Art pieces are part of a series that I continue to work on and improve. They are inspired by my love for spirituality and nature. I love to work with both wood and stone, making it a joy to be able to combine them in this way.
Cut from local woods, they are made with a … combination of hand tools and the latest CNC equipment. The shapes are created by hand or an automated router, depending on the design. All the engravings are setup and completed on a laser engraver. I was just thrilled to find this bookmatched Maple slab. It was crying out to be planed, sanded, engraved and put on display. The design was chosen to highlight, and simply to fit within, the already beautiful design that nature had built into it over the Western Maple's many decades in the forest. The engraved design was further highlighted with carefully selected colors to enhance both the design and the wood itself.
