This bold, hand-forged flower motif ring begins with a sterling silver band that is hand-forged and embellished with designs from handmade steel punches. The ring shank is fitted on a finger-shaped mandrel for comfort. The copper disc that makes up the flower petal portion of the ring is then … heated to red-hot and plunged into cold water, creating the permanent reddish patina. Then the copper is forged with a large steel hammer, creating a prominent "petal" effect. The center of the flower is a nickel silver disc and a brass disc that have been textured with steel punches and files. Everything is then riveted together with a tiny sterling silver tube. Finally, a patina is applied to the ring to enhance the rich textures.
