Contemporary Tall Clock with Metal Base

This contemporary tall clock has a stainless steel metal base and matching stainless steel clock face. I wanted to build this clock not only because it is beautiful but it provided me an opportunity to marry metal and wood in a very … complementary fashion. The clock case is made of curly maple accented by lace wood.

The clock has an eight day mechanical movement powered by two weights clad in silver leaf. The fourteen pound weights provide the power for the clock's operation. One weight supplies power to the mechanism while the second one powers the hour and half hour bell strikes.

The silver leaf and lace wood accents lend an art deco feel to the open case.
The illumination of the clock of these materials looks particularly dramatic in a dimly lit room.

The clock is approximately seven feet tall and is a dramatic complement to the room while being a functional piece of art with movement and sound. This clock is for the person who is seeking a distinctive piece to have in their family for generations.
