This custom dining room set is influenced by Japanese temples. Constructed from locally sourced, solid walnut, it has both natural walnut and ebonized walnut, finished with conversion varnish. The chairs, bench, and table base utilize all wood joinery. The only screws we used are for the table top … fasteners. Toko, or tokonoma, is a Japnanese architectural term for a recessed space to display items of importance. Our reinterpretation of this concept is a recessed rectangle in the table center. This set was designed for and in collaboration with two wonderful and creative clients.
