This is the 3rd piece that I've made that offers both seating and storage. I think it's the practicality that I find appealing, plus I love benches.

The name, vanchocstraw, grew out of the stripes of color offered by the sycamore that I used for the box. The lightest stripe and its neighboring … hue are together in one plank; the natural color difference of heart and sapwood. I glued on the darkest stripe to provide the needed width and complete the threesome.

My dad always called Neopolitan Icecream, vanchocstraw.
