The subtle details, clean lines, asymmetry and simple joinery of this side table were influenced by Japanese design principles and aesthetics. The table is made from a reclaimed ash restaurant tabletop, white oak and cherry. To create the thin edge profile of the tabletop the underside was tapered
… in four directions while leaving enough material to connect the top to the base with through mortise and tenon joinery. The cantilever of the top is stabilized by a large cherry wedge inserted through the base. The solid white oak base has an ebonized finish while the rest of the table is finished with oil and wax.

From proposal to project conclusion, Karl was excellent to work with. The quality of his workmanship is absolutely top notch, and I would highly recommend having him work on any project you have.
