This commissioned table measures 64"x36" and is made of reclaimed wormy chestnut. Original saw/milling marks were purposely left visible. The client saw a similar table on an antique buying trip but wanted a specific size for her living space.

We couldn’t be more overjoyed with our table! George LaRue Downing’s friendly manner made the design process a breeze. We only had a rough idea of what we wanted at first, but with George Downing’s expert suggestions, we felt confident settling on a design. It is evident that a lot of workmanship has gone into the making of our table – the top is made out of a lovely piece of curly maple and the finish is like silk. This table is going to be with us for a very long time.

The experience with Downing Fine Woodworking exceeded expectations. This was a collaborative effort with back and forth over the best design for the table- both from an appearance and structural standpoint. The quality of workmanship was superior and the color matching with existing furniture was excellent.Pricing was very competitive and I believe we ended up with a table that could not be matched by any furniture manufacturer that we researched in detail. This experience has made me a believer, that with a quality supplier, custom ordering by internet is a real opportunity. It was a real pleasure working with LaRue and believe we will do it again!
