Another passenger from the way-back machine has paid a visit! This time, the previous owner of this beautiful ring has chosen to trade up to a nicer piece of my work instead of so many others who have succumbed to the numbing madness of the economic where-with-all. This ring goes back at least twenty years to a time before I insisted on the squared shank. I do know that it dates after 1990 when I bought my first trademark stamp.
This beautiful wedding ring is a size 5 ½ and is comprised of 9.1 grams of 14 and 18K gold. The Diamonds are princess cut stones, 2.2mm square weighing approximately 7 points apiece for a total of 35 points, approximately 1/3 of a carat. I do remember this design being a particular bitch because of the combined nature of the design. I had to carve the white gold portion and cast it first. Then I carved the 18k portion and cast it. Then they both had to come together in a mutually, though not necessarily equal union. Uhum…We then get to set tiny diamonds into a curved surface. Yeah!
