I would describe this work I made for Alexis as the perfect collaboration. Putting thoughts and images together considering what sort of rings and forms she was drawn to and sourcing information from our conversations - I came up with sketches that envisioned her wedding ring. After a few conversations and tweaking of design- I transformed her grandmother's gold wedding rings to create the stone settings, the braid and the outside lips of the band. I forged the sterling silver anticlastic curved band to sit underneath the rest, and it is a very comfortable fit.
We both think this piece looks like an ancient celtic queen's ring.
When I make this wearable art jewelry for a client- I consider it a collaboration and work to really get what people are drawn to and interested in. I end up feeling like a channel- and it seems that what ends up getting created comes through me and is able to reach the visions and desires of my client, both physically and spiritually. It is my deep pleasure to work in these kinds of relationships.
