We made this set for a private school's charity auction in California. The project was intended to be "interactive" with the children in the 1st grade class. I came up with the idea to give each student a survey to fill out that had them fill in their name, favorite color, hair, eyes, etc. We then received the surveys and created wooden children painted to look like each child. The pieces stood on painted wood bases that had engraved individual names. We then used our newest prototype board design made from colored glassed inlayed with wood bottom and sides. It came with a box designed to match the school logo and name to carry the chess pieces.
It was a very creative project!
