Abstract Madonna And Child - Stained Glass Screen

Screens are popular in stained glass. The framework can be wood, as in this example, or metal. Screens can be small enough to stand in front of a fireplace or large enough to serve as a room divider. The glasses can be tailored to look good in front of a window (more cathedral or see-through glasses). The glasses can also be tailored to look good where light will generally not pass through the artwork, such as in front of a fireplace (more opaque or semi-opaque glasses).
This free-standing screen is constructed with lead came. All metallic parts have been darkened to a charcoal gray with a chemical patina.
The framework for this artwork is walnut, which can be seen well in the second photo.
The size of this artwork is 58" wide and 43" high, although the screen is more like 50-52" wide when the side panels are angled in enough to allow the screen to stand.
