This sculpture originated as a burl on a Western Big Leaf Maple log. I sliced it off with a chain saw and then carved it with a variety of tools, allowing the spectacular wood grain to dictate the shape of the item itself. This freeform sculpture really has no front or back. Viewing the item from any direction yields an entirely different experience. The finish is silky smooth where the wood has been carved and sanded, and left rough and original in other places.

Dimensions: This sculpture stands approximately 18 inches high.
