Alder Mantle
This piece was a simple mantle shelf over a southwestern style fireplace. The client requested that it match the blinds beside the fireplace. Used 6/4 clear alder for the shelf and stained it with a pecan stain. The final finish was several coats of amber shellac. The mantle was installed using pocket screws from the top of the shelf into the studs of the fireplace framing.
