A late 19th Century, glowing Rosewood "chair back" style Settee adorned with a hand carved leaf splat. This two seater has been completely refinished to allow the beauty of the wood's numerous decorative carvings to shine through. Elegantly reupholstered in gray hand-rubbed Top Grain leather finished over Merino wool and new 8-way hand-tied springs, the seat subtly accentuates the natural wood tones and provides superior comfort. Finished in matching dome head nails, this piece would make an eye catching statement in a foyer or home's entry way, but has been composed to blend in with numerous furnishing periods.
Provenance: Settee was hand made in Virginia, circa 1890, and was obtained from the original owner's family.
Sofa measures 48"w x 24"d x 40"h, and weighs approximately 50 lbs.
