A beautiful combination of textures, materials and colors: mahogany, leather and metal -- walnut brown, deep green, and pewter. Sketchbook, diary, journal. It opens easily, and lays beautifully flat.

This book uses two pieces of thin, strong 3-ply mahogany plywood for the covers. The wood is stained dark walnut brown, and is protected with three coats of varnish. You can't really see it in the pictures, but light seems to sink into the mahogany in a wonderful way, as you turn the book this way and that. Four bands of a soft deep green leather connect front and back covers, and are riveted to the covers with Celtic pewter-colored leather rivets. The pages are sewn onto the four bands that wrap around the spine. The thread is brown 4-ply waxed Irish linen thread.

NOTE: If you purchase this book, it may be a bit bigger than the pictures lead you to expect. I have large hands.
