A beautiful combination of textures, materials and colors: mahogany, leather and metal -- pale gold, tan, and bronze. Sketchbook, diary, journal. It lays very flat, and is available with or without a buckle closure.
This book uses two pieces of thin, strong 3-ply mahogany plywood for the covers. The wood is the natural unstained color, but is protected with three coats of varnish. You can't really see it in the pictures, but light seems to sink into the mahogany in a wonderful way, as you turn the book this way and that. Four bands of a soft tan leather connect front and back covers, and are riveted to the covers with textured bronze leather rivets. The pages are sewn onto the four bands that wrap around the spine. The thread is white 4-ply waxed Irish linen thread. The optional buckle is brass, and the belt and the buckle are riveted securely to the front and back covers.

I had been thinking about getting my father a blank book to compile they years worth of jokes he knows in. I came across Jonathan Day's work and immediately knew I had found what I was looking for! OMG, the book is perfect. Johathan got the idea of what I wanted through just a few correspondences. He sent me the rough draft to approve and I had the finished product in no time. So incredibly happy with his attention to detail and the timeliness of the whole project. Definitely have him do a book for you!
