This was a heirloom piece from a client that had it in their family for the better part of the last century. Kept in a basement for many years it had sustained a lot of moisture abuse which had to be addressed. After fixing it structurally and replacing wood that was either broken or rotten I fixed in the internal box, and installed a new piano hinge and new period brass hardware/lockset. I was able to get restoration hardware to match the era. The finish is a deep mahogany stain and a ultra-durable conversion varnish for a glass like finish.
