As an environmental educator I enjoy connecting people with the wonders of our natural world. I have a tremendous amount of interest in the trees that shape our forests- from their ability to sustain our ecosystems to their uniqueness and beauty.

These candle holders are crafted using beautiful planks of black walnut, featuring the rich hues of heartwood contrasting with the lighter sapwood, and is from here in the Southern Appalachians. A natural edge on one side serves to remind the user of the forest from which it has come, and accommodates standard tea light candles (included). Bark can be included if requested. Custom candle holders are approximately 1.5 inches thick and can be crafted in a number of desired shapes and sizes based upon personal preference. Cost is based upon size ($0.40 per square inch). For instance, a 10 inch by 5 inch candle holder costs $20.00. An odd number of candles is preferred for a more interesting appearance. The overall number of tea light candles based upon size of the overall piece and the preference of the buyer. i can substitute the included paraffin candles for local beeswax candles for an additional charge.

Walnut has long been used as a choice wood for its strength and beauty. These candle holders are treated with a beeswax, mineral oil mixture.
