Architectural Art | Pronghorn

I created a variety of architectural components for the El Moro Rest Area, El Moro, Colorado. I contracted with Michael Brendle Architects and our client was the Colorado Department of Transportation. This pronghorn antelope is one of two large sculptures mounted on the raised-seam copper mansard of the buildings. This piece was cut by water jet in 1/4" aluminum. The close-up photo shows it shortly after installation. It became more visible as the copper aged to the brown color it typically develops in arid climates. This pronghorn image is one of many created for the building. The others are made in steel, bronze, slate, and slate. They are imbedded in the walls and floors and windows of the building.
