This Beaded Bead Necklace was inspired by the Colors of Summer - memories of summer beaches, ripe peaches and the fragrance of salt air and sweet flowers as well as my environment in interior North Florida. It is the third in a series of major pieces based on the seasons.
This piece features 4 of my major beaded bead designs. My Signature Bead is the focal, flanked by a Crazy Quilt and Large Spiral. Above these three are two freshwater pearl Sea Anemones. The focal and the Crazy Quilt beads include mother-of-pearl and freshwater pearl beads. The clasp is constructed of 2 hand forged 14k gold filled hooks that attach to a beaded bead that is a scaled down version of the Signature Bead.
These are my original beaded bead designs. I create them by stitching tiny glass seed beads around a wood base bead. The beaded beads range in size from 10mm (1/2 inch) to 32mm (1 and 1/4 inch in diameter). It is 19 inches long and hand knotted with a very sturdy silk like thread. Although it is a large and very bold piece it weighs only 4 and 1/2 oz.
I love creating extravagant Beaded Bead pieces like this one. If you have ideas for one of your own we can design it together. We will engage in a conversation about color, pattern, scale, and materials. I will keep you in the process loop by sending pictures of the beaded beads as I make them and proposed layout of them in the necklace. It will truly be your one-of-a-kind custom treasure!
