This is a whimsical yet dramatic art-glass sculpture inspired my my years living near Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii. The piece depicts my feelings of the awesome power of Pele, the Volcano Goddess. In one piece, there is the original tropical splendor; the destructive fire; and the rebirth of the forest. The glass, several layers over each other in some parts, was meticulously chosen to represent each aspect. The wood is Hawaiian Koa, some polished to represent it as it stood in finished homes; in other areas rough, burned and broken.
These pieces are best viewed at table or buffet height but could be as high as a mantel. They are best positioned so all sides are exposed.
Dimensions: About 18" high and 21" wide at the widest part.
