Arts And Crafts - Stickley Model 562 Taboret Replica Side Table
Patterned after the Model 562 Taboret from the 1914 catalog.
The table is made entirely from quarter-sawn red oak using traditional mortise and tenon peg joinery. The ray flake resulting from the quarter sawn process provides a beautiful graining appearance to the top and sides.
Significant time and attention is devoted to the finish in order to replicate the beauty of the traditional Arts & Crafts furniture of the time. After extensive hand sanding, a red/brown aniline dye followed by an oil base walnut colored stain is applied. A shellac seal coat is then applied with another thorough sanding. Finally 3 coats of satin urethane are applied with a 0000 steel wool rub out between coats.
