I made this combo to sell online. I wanted to offer the average office worker, teacher, or employee a different option from the average suit, dress, or work combo. I had these great fabric that were full of color and I wanted to see what I could come up with.
The blouse is made from a cotton print. It has a green, blue, brown, and silver stripe in it. The blouse buttons up the front, but the buttons are hidden under a flap to help keep the look smooth and uninterrupted.
The skirt is made from a wool stretch fabric that I bought from an antique store years ago. It is gored, which means it is full, but has seams that follow the lines of the body to give it a nice tailored look. The waistband is elastic, so the wearer does not have to deal with any sort of zipper.
This outfit is intended for everyday types of use. I envisioned it as a work outfit, but it could easily be used for other occasions. I made the blouse long so that it would tuck nicely into the skirt, but it can also be worn by itself with leggings and a belt. The skirt also makes a nice stand-alone piece. My only regret is that I never put pockets into the skirt.
