Kinetic Abstract / 48 x 48 x 2.5 / Acrylic, Charcoal, Oil on Canvas

Like almost all of my work, I prefer not to disclose my direct thoughts on what the piece is 'about'. I would like the viewer to make their own story and come to their own conclusions. I will say other than my driving thought, is I want to create a space the commands the attention of the space that it is in. I created a balance in an imperfect way. I wanted it to feel mechanical, yet of the hand, not machine. When I say balance, I not only mean in weight but in other aspects- life, excess, restraint.

I chose a square canvas for its purity of shape, to create motion in a typically confined environment. The piece is built up from several layers, each containing content, but whose main purposes are to give the piece depth, if one sees it or not.

The edges are finished with paint, I chose 'my' white, to set the dark face off.
